
The Okpanam community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into mourning over the weekend following the gruesome killing of 19-year-old Isioma Nwayilan.
The Guardian learned that the late Nwayilan, an auxiliary nursing apprentice, was accidentally hit by a bullet fired by a member of the Okpanam anti-cult group.
According to sources, the deceased was returning from work on Saturday evening to Asaba, where she lived, when she was killed.

Sources further revealed that one of the anti-cult personnel alighted from a vehicle when the gun accidentally discharged, hitting the girl.
They said she was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the shooting but died hours later while receiving treatment.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
Edafe stated that the anti-cult member had been arrested and was in police custody, adding, “We are investigating the matter to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting.”
