The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the failed attack on the Kogi State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office by alleged supporters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

APC spokesperson, Kingsley Fanwo, said the failed attack was a confirmation that SDP is determined to destroy every relevant government institution just to maintain its false claim to popularity.

“Today’s failed attack by supporters and thugs of the Social Democratic Party to attack the State INEC Office in Lokoja has confirmed our recent alarm that the party is determined to destroy every relevant government institution just to maintain their false claim to popularity,” Fanwo said.

Fanwo commended the security agent for their prompt intervention of in averting the attack, saying their timely intervention saved would have been a bloody day

“Their promptness and professionalism is highly commended as their timely intervention saved what would have been a bloody day as weapon-wielding thugs of the SDP were dangerously threatening to make the state ungovernable,”

He also dismissed the SDP’s allegation that the thugs were hired by the APC, calling it a “laughable story” and a continuation of the party’s “culture of terrible and senseless propaganda.”

Fanwo added that the allegations by SDP are a strategy to blame everyone else for their own actions.

“It is high time the thoroughly defeated candidate of the SDP and his co-travellers to an unknown destination are arrested to forestall further breakdown of law and order,”

The APC spokesperson, however, urged its party supporters to remain law-abiding in the face of glaring provocation, noting that war is about using one’s best to the worst to oneself.”

He reiterated the party readiness for any legal challenge, noting that they won an election adjudged as the freest and fairest in the history of Kogi state.
