Plateau State Forum in Abuja has described the micro-zoning of the party’s national chairmanship position to Plateau State as fair, inclusive, and reflective of the zone’s contributions to the party’s growth.
The forum also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Wednesday by the forum’s Chairman, Hon. Yakubu Pam Gam Sakondong, who praised the leadership of the APC under National Chairman Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda for strengthening party structures, enhancing inclusiveness, and stabilising the organisation nationally.
The group highlighted key reforms under Yilwatda’s leadership, including electronic membership registration, youth-focused initiatives, and improved representation for women and persons with disabilities. According to the forum, his open-door policy and reconciliation efforts have attracted new members, including prominent political figures from other parties.
The forum also noted that the recent alignment of Governor Mutfwang and other stakeholders with the APC has bolstered the party’s position both in Plateau State and nationally.
Regarding party administration, the group praised the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) for zoning the national chairmanship to the North Central region and micro-zoning it to Plateau State ahead of the March 27–28, 2026 national convention. The forum described this move as a demonstration of fairness and recognition of the state’s role in advancing the party.
The forum further commended the APC’s performance in the February 21, 2026 FCT Area Council elections, where the party won five of the six councils. The success was attributed in part to the efforts of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Congratulating the newly elected council chairmen and councillors, the forum expressed confidence in their ability to deliver effective grassroots governance.
Looking ahead, the group urged Nigerians, especially indigenes of Plateau State, to support the APC’s reform agenda and rally behind its leadership. It reaffirmed its commitment to the party’s “Renewed Hope” vision, expressing optimism that continued backing for President Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang would ensure sustained development and political stability beyond 2027.
