APC has no constitutional policy on rotation, zoning – Abia spokesman

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu

…Endorses Reps Deputy Speaker, Kalu’s return bid in 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC ) says that as a political party, it has no constitutional policy or official guideline that provides for the rotation of offices and or zoning of elective offices, but instead, is being guided by what it listed as the principles of competence, proven capacity, character, effective service delivery, integrity, and the ability to attract meaningful development to the people.

The Abia state Publicity Secretary of the party Comrade Uche Aguoru who explained this in a statement, said that these have remained his party’s benchmarks, and not an unconfirmed zoning arrangement, which he stated, exists only in the imagination of those who are evidently afraid of the overwhelming popularity and outstanding credentials of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

Hon Kalu is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who is also, the party’s ( APC ) candidate for Bende Constituency in the 2027 election.

According to Comrade Aguoru , APC prioritizes competence, capacity, character, and performance over unsubstantiated Zoning Claims.

The Abia State APC, who he he stated , has watched with keen interest, the debate surrounding the representation of Bende Federal Constituency, would
ordinarily, have ignored the misleading arguments being propagated by the Labour Party, but stated it has now become necessary to set the record straight for the benefit of the public.

He declared that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu is not just another politician, but a nationally respected statesman, a global legislative brand, Africa’s best parliamentarian and one of Abia State’s greatest contributors to national leadership.

” Hon Kalu, as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, legislative excellence, and an unmatched commitment to the development of Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State, the southeast and Nigeria”.

Comrade Aguoru said that the APC, having conducted an independent opinion poll across Bende Federal Constituency, established that overwhelming majority of Bende indigenes affirmed they would not sacrifice a proven performer like Hon Kalu, an accomplished legislator, a global brand and the pride of the constituency and the whole of Abia state on the altar of an unsubstantiated rotation narrative.

” The people have made it clear that competence, experience, vision, verifiable achievements and effective representation remain their priorities, stressing that the House of Representatives is not a stage for entertainment or political experimentation, but a serious legislative institution that demands intellectual capacity, legislative experience, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively advocate for the interests of the people.

He therefore counseled those he described as pretending to contestants against Deputy Speaker Kalu in the 2027 election, not to risk wasting their time and hard earned resources.

The State APC Spokesman challenged Hon Kalu’s rival contestants in the election to present their convincing records of knowledge or experience instead of relying on the unverified claims of zoning.

Asserting that the APC remained firmly committed and supportive of the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Comrade Aguoru bosted of his Party’s confidence that Hon Kalu’s ” remarkable achievements, exceptional leadership, widespread popularity, and enduring connection with the people, have positioned him strongly to secure victory in any electoral contest, not just in Bende Federal Constituency but across Abia state and beyond.

Besides, he stated that the people of Bende Constituency, deserve nothing less than the very best, promising that the APC remains committed to offering them tested leadership, proven capacity, and effective representation in the person of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, also known as “Utabiri Bende”.
