APC, PDP hold governorship primaries today in Kaduna

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State will today hold its primary to produce its governorship the candidate for 2019 elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State will today hold its primary to produce its governorship the candidate for 2019 elections.

Former Governor, Ramallan Yero, Isa Ashiru and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi are among 13 top contenders.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is the sole contender for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket.

Already, PDP state officials, yesterday, said the party “wishes to restate its commitment for a transparent, free and fair primaries at all levels, in line with the party constitution and the Constitution of the Federal Republic .”

In a related development, the Special Adviser on Politics and Strategy to Senator Shehu Sani, Suleiman Ahmed, told The Guardian that the Senator’s supporters would not participate in the governorship primaries, ” because we had earlier said we wanted direct primaries in the state.”

Ahmed said Senator Sani was ready to participate in the primaries scheduled for Tuesday to elect Senatorial candidates.
