The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the leadership style of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State. It accused it of dictatorship that has left the people in abject poverty.

PDP members at a stakeholders’ meeting of the Kogi West Senatorial District of the party in Lokoja accused the administration of not having regard for human lives. They said people are dying by the day of common ailments due to non-payment of salaries.

According to the party: “The Yahaya Bello administration is heartless, inconsiderate, insensitive and irresponsive to the plight of Kogi civil servants. It has utterly failed the people as it is bereft of what to do to move the state forward.”

It claimed that almost a year of the administration, nothing so far has been done in the state except “rudderless screening.”

It also condemned frequent outside travels by the governor as a flagrant abdication of his responsibility to give quality good governance.

But the Director-General, Media and Publicity to the governor, Kingsley Fanwo, accused the PDP of being the architect of the rot confronting Kogi.

He likened the ousted ruling party’s position to that of someone that defecated on the floor and only to turn around to blame the person parking it of being slow.

Fanwo said the last government left the state civil service morally broken, with the workers not paid their salaries for months.

He added: “It is quite paradoxical. Someone defecated on the floor and then turn around to blame the person parking it of being slow.

“Governor Yahaya Bello is not expecting the PDP to be happy with his reforms and resolve to question previous administrations over how the common wealth of the people was managed.

“Governor Yahaya Bello instituted the members of staff verification exercise to expose and clean the rot of the past. Thousands of ghost workers were smuggled into the payroll of the state under the supervision of the PDP administration and instead of apologising to the people of the state for the inexplicable and unpardonable criminality, they are now attempting to blindfold the people.
