Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Hon. Rufus Bature, has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against stereotyping the APC in the state.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Hon. Rufus Bature, has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against stereotyping the APC in the state.

Bature gave the warning at the party secretariat yesterday, when a governorship aspirant under the platform of APC, Dr. Patrick Dakum, visited him, saying that the APC remains a party of all Nigerians and no amount of name calling or profiling could change the narrative.

“APC is a national party for all Nigerians including Plateau State and no one can reverse that fact,” he said and dismissed PDP’s continuous blackmail in the state to the effect that the APC was a party that adheres to a particular religion, which he described as “cheap and dangerous propaganda.”

“What the people of Plateau State need most is the delivery of democracy dividends and unity, which the governor is doing, but is being distracted by agents of disunity,” he added.

He said while the APC strongly believed in constructive criticism, which is healthy for the growth of democracy, “we must respect our leaders, who God entrusted with the responsibility to rule. When you are not on the seat, it is easy to criticise, but we must be careful not to equate lies with the truth.”

He restated the party’s position of working hard to install an APC government to break the jinx of the ruling party not installing successor from the party.

Bature, who welcomed the APC aspirant, revealed that Dakum was the first to visit the party secretariat amongst all the aspirants under the party’s platform, assured him that the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants under its platform.
