The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monsuru Osho, has emerged victorious in the Manifesto Of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)ections/”>by-election conducted across 18 polling units in Iperu III Ward 5, Ikenne Local Council of Ogun State.
The Returning Officer of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Olusogo Otelaja, who disclosed this, said Osho secured 1,730 votes out of the 1,741 total votes cast.
According to the results, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled five votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered four votes to place second and third, respectively.
Otelaja stated that voting commenced at 8:00 a.m. across the ward, with adequate security personnel deployed to ensure a peaceful exercise.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of voters and party agents, noting that the election was orderly and devoid of any major incidents.
OGSIEC Chairman, Babatunde Osibodu, while speaking on the exercise, described the by-election as peaceful, free and credible.
Osibodu, who was represented by a commissioner in the Commission, Gbemi Onasanya, commended residents of the ward for their peaceful participation and praised electoral officials and security agencies for their professionalism during the voting and collation processes.
Also speaking, Chairman of Ikenne Local Council, Jamiu Asimi, lauded OGSIEC for conducting a smooth and transparent election.
He equally commended the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun for its developmental initiatives across the state.
Osho, in his reaction, expressed gratitude to the electorate for their overwhelming support and confidence in his candidacy.
He also appreciated Abiodun for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work closely with the local council administration to advance development and improve the welfare of residents in the ward.
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of the former councillor representing the ward, the late Nurudeen Bakare.
