The Archbishop of the Awka Anglican Province of the Niger, Dr. Alexander Ibezim, has condemned the fielding of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, both Muslims, for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Archbishop of the Awka Anglican Province of the Niger, Dr. Alexander Ibezim, has condemned the fielding of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, both Muslims, for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the development is tantamount to playing with fire and toying with the future of the country.

Ibezim, who spoke to newsmen on the occasion of his 60th birthday in Awka, Anambra State, yesterday, described the discriminatory tendency as retrogressive and capable of plunging the country into anarchy.

He pointed out that given the power shift arrangement between the North and South, he had expected a Christian presidential candidate with a Muslim running mate.
