Army kill five terrorists, recover arms in Borno

Troops of 402 Special Forces Task Brigade of Operation Tura Takaibango (OTTB) have killed five Boko Haram terrorists in the Abbagajiri and Dusula hideouts of Damboa local council of Borno State.
 
They also recovered arms and ammunition, including Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) manufacturing materials.Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig.-Gen. Bernard Onyeukou, disclosed this yesterday at the Special Army Super Camp 1, Ngamdu, Borno, while briefing newsmen on the ongoing operation in the state.

According to him, on January 20, 2021, the troops identified and encircled some terrorists at the Abbagajiri and Dusula hideouts before engaging them with superior firepower.

“The latest encounter led by the Commander of 402 Special Forces Task Force Brigade led to the killing of five terrorists,” he said, noting that there were higher casualties on insurgents with some of them sustaining gunshot wounds.

On recovered arms, he said: “Equipment captured from the criminals include a Pulemyot Kalashnikova Tankovyy (PKT) gun, three AK-47 rifles, four extra AK-47 rifle magazines and a Vulcanizing Machine.

“Other items captured and destroyed include food stuffs, some IEDs’ making materials including the criminals’ other hideouts and clothing, among others.”

Onyeuko urged the troops not to relent, but to build on the successes recorded in the front lines of Sambisa Forest. He reiterated the Army’s renewed vigour and determination to flush out remnants of terrorists from the Northeast geo-political zone.
