Assembly okays Obaseki’s appointees as gov unveils EdoSTAR fellows today

Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, confirmed all 11 commissioner- nominees sent to the lawmakers and also confirmed Justice Joe Acha as the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state, following a request letter from Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, confirmed all 11 commissioner- nominees sent to the lawmakers and also confirmed Justice Joe Acha as the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state, following a request letter from Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Those on the list are Andrew Emwanta (Egor), Oluwole Osamudiamen lyamu (Oredo), Prof. Obehi Akoria (Esan West), Dr. Joan Oviawe (Uhunmwonde), Ethan Uzamere (Ovia South West) and Monday Osaigbovo (Ovia North East).

Others are Marie Edeko (Esan North East), Joseph Eboigbe (Esan Central), Moses Agbukor (Etsako East), lsoken Omo (Ikpoba-Okha) and Mrs. Otse Momoh-Omorogbe (Etsako West).

BESIDES, the state government will, today, unveil the first batch of Edo Supporting Teachers To Achieve Results (EdoSTAR) Teaching Fellows, to strengthen the teaching corps in the state. 
 
Executive Chairman, Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB), Dr. Joan Osa Ovia, who disclosed this in a statement, said the Governor Obaseki would unveil the fellows 

She noted that the ceremony, which holds by 11:00a.m. at the Samuel Ogbemudia Secondary School Hall, coincides with the World Teachers Day and resonates with the 2021 theme: Teachers At The Heart Of Education Recovery. 
 
“The EdoSTAR programme is a unique three-year Professional Fellowship designed for teachers (and aspiring teachers) within the state to strengthen the quality of teaching staff and fill existing gaps in our schools, especially those in rural, riverine, and remote communities. Based on performance, successful fellows will be absorbed into the state public service. 

MEANWHILE, Obaseki has appointed the Chairman of Sterling Bank Plc, Asue Ighodalo as Chairman of 2021 Alaghodaro Committee.

The Alaghodaro Summit, which started in 2017 and now in its fifth edition, is a yearly investment summit to mark the governor’s anniversary in office.

A statement issued by Special Adviser to the governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, revealed that Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie, will serve as secretary of the committee.

Members of the committee include Edo State Solicitor General, Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), Chief Executive Officer, Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation, Osayi Alile, and the state Head of Service (HoS), Anthony Okungbowa.

Other members are former Chairman of ECO Bank Plc, Emmanuel Ikazoboh, President/Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Transcorp Plc, Mrs. Owen Omogiafo; Principal Partner, Izlaw Solicitors, Mrs. Izuma Sophia Onyenkpa and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AFRINVEST, Mrs. Onoise Onaghinon.
