Asue Ighodalo’s media team expresses confidence as Edo tribunal begins
As the Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal begins substantive hearing of the petition filed by Asue Ighodalo and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) begins, the Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO), have described the tribunal proceedings as a decisive step towards securing electoral justice for Edo State and reinforcing Nigeria’s democratic ideals.
The petition at the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal challenges the declaration of Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the last governorship election, citing alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
In a statement released in Benin City on Monday, TAMO’s spokesperson, Erhabor Emokpae, reaffirmed the PDP’s trust in the judicial process. According to TAMO, the evidence to be presented will expose the truth and restore what they describe as “the stolen mandate of the Edo people.”

“TAMO remains committed to peaceful and constructive engagement throughout this process and urges all supporters of democracy to remain calm, despite heightened emotions,” the statement read.
The media organisation emphasised the importance of holding institutions accountable while countering propaganda and misinformation with facts. “In the battle for democracy, integrity, and the rights of every Edo citizen, public engagement and vigilance are crucial,” the statement continued.
TAMO also pledged to provide timely updates on the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal’s progress and assured the public of their unwavering commitment to transparency.
As the hearings unfold at the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal, many see it as a test of Nigeria’s judiciary and its capacity to uphold democratic values. For Ighodalo and the PDP, the stakes extend beyond Edo State, as the case could set a precedent for electoral justice nationwide.
With tensions high, the call for civility and constructive dialogue resonates as a reminder that democracy thrives on collective effort. The tribunal’s verdict is eagerly awaited, with the hope that it will strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process and restore public trust.
