ASUU faults Pantami’s professorial rank

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) branch, has said the process of appointing Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, as professor, is not clear, and that it is not convinced about the appointment.

The Vice Chancellor ATBU (Pantami’s alma mater and where he started his career as a lecturer), Prof. Mohammad Abdulaziz, had in a letter he wrote on behalf of management, staff and students of school, congratulated Pantami.

But the academic staff in ATBU, however, dissociated itself from the congratulatory letter, saying that the VC did not consult it before congratulating the minister on “an appointment shrouded in controversy.”
