Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri Chapter have restated their position not to register in the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System (IPPIS)

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri Chapter have restated their position not to register in the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), as directed by the Federal Government.

Fielding questions from The Guardian in Owerri, at the weekend, the Chairman of the ASUU- FUTO, Dr. Echereobia Christopher, said no amount of intimidation would make his members to capitulate, “even if the Federal Government decides to sack all of us and recruit new university teachers from the market, so be it.”

“Almost all of our members have complied with our position. None of our member is going around there to register. We have our monitoring team on this. If there is anybody who has registered, such a person must be a non-academic staff. We are used to our salaries being withheld. If they like, let them go to Ekeonunwa market and recruit. That is our position. It has not changed, and it cannot change. We are not bread and butter. That is it,” Christopher said.
