ASUU kicks over alleged non-implementation of pact by government
THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has urged the Federal Government to activate their December 22, 2020 Memorandum of Action (MoA). Failing, which it threatened, could result in a fresh round of strike.
The Benin Zonal Coordinator of the union, Prof. Fred Esumeh, at a press conference yesterday, in Benin City, Edo State, cautioned government against putting the sector into what he termed “another inevitable round of crisis in Nigerian universities.”
He recalled that an industrial action was declared on March 23, 2020 following government’s ‘failure’ to honour the February 7, 2019 MoA ahead of renegotiation of the FGN-ASUU 2009 agreement.
