Axxela Limited has expanded its gas pipeline network by 39 kilometres across Lagos, Ogun and Rivers states in 2025, as the gas and power company increased connections to industrial and commercial customers.

The company, in its 2025 sustainability report, also disclosed that it recorded zero fatalities and achieved 9.6 million Lost Time Injury (LTI)-free man-hours across its operations during the year.

The report, themed “Enabling Access, Deepening Impact,” detailed the company’s environmental, social and governance performance, including infrastructure expansion, stakeholders’ engagement, workplace safety and environmental management.

Axxela said the additional pipeline infrastructure improved connectivity across the three states, while new industrial and commercial customer connections strengthened its customer portfolio.

The firm said it had also secured Great Place to Work certification and a Gold Medal rating in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, placing it among the top five per cent of companies assessed globally.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Axxela, Moshood Olajide, said the company’s performance reflected its focus on expanding domestic gas utilisation while pursuing responsible infrastructure development.

“Expanding domestic gas utilisation remains central to our strategy. Each new customer connection supports cleaner and more efficient energy use, helping industries improve efficiency and reduce reliance on traditionally dirtier fuels. Our growth remains anchored in responsible infrastructure development and long-term value creation. We will continue to support Nigeria’s transition towards a more sustainable gas-powered economy,” he said.

However, on environmental management, Axxela said it maintained environmental compliance registers, conducted yearly compliance audits and risk assessments, and carried out quarterly emerging risk scans across its operations and projects.

The company also said it had implemented environmental monitoring, operational controls and rehabilitation programmes aimed at minimising environmental disturbance and protecting biodiversity.
