In what appears a good start for the third force in the nation’s politics, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has received defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State.

Curiously, a former spokesman of Governor Abubakar Badaru, Comrade Bello Zaki and Senator Abdul Aziz Tarabu are among the defectors.

Others are former commissioners under former Governor Sule Lamido, Hon. Rabiu Isa Taura, Hannafi Fagam, Shehu Chamo and former Chief of Staff (COS) to Lamido, Mallam Aminu Ringim.

Ringim, who contested the governorship election twice under PDP, led sessions of the state’s party congress where its state executives were elected through consensus.

The composition of the forty executives were under the watch of Hon. Mukhtari Ibrahim Gwanga, as state party chairman, emerged as chairman and confirmed with affirmation of the delegates.

Thousands of party members, mostly from the PDP and APC, among others who defected to the party with Rimgim, attended the congress.
