In a statement made available to The Guardian, Fintiri expressed deep concern over the killing.
While describing the former defence chief as pride of the nation’s military, the former acting governor said that the killing is a confirmation that security of lives and properties is not guaranteed presently in the country.
He urged the military authorities to put maximum efforts in arresting those behind the assassination, noting that it will be an embarrassment for military if a four-star general is killed without the perpetrators apprehended to face the full wrath of the law.
The Adamawa State Chapter of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has also declared seven days to pray for the family of the late defence chief and rained curses on his killers.
