Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its critical role in counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations under Operation Fansan Yamma across the state.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Barrister Maurice Bello Magaji, gave the commendation while speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA), held at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Minna, on January 24, 2025.
He praised NAF personnel for their dedication, professionalism and sacrifices in combating insecurity and safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national security, particularly in Niger State.
Governor Bago also expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal S.K. Aneke, for his leadership and for combining the event with a parley with NAF veterans, describing the initiative as a fitting platform to honour their sacrifices and contributions to national security.
He assured the Nigerian Air Force of the Niger State Government’s continued support through sustained collaboration, as well as the provision of resources and infrastructure to enhance security operations.
The governor further congratulated the Commander, 013 Quick Response Force, Nigerian Air Force Base Minna, Group Captain Kehinde Orobola Akinyosade, and the entire base community on the successful hosting of the 2025 BASA, while praying for continued peace and progress in Niger State and the country at large.
In his keynote address, Group Captain Akinyosade said the 2025 BASA marked the close of the operational year and provided an opportunity to strengthen unity, cultural identity and esprit de corps within the NAF community.
He expressed gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff for his visionary leadership and support, noting that the parley with NAF veterans underscored the Air Force’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of its retired personnel.
The commander disclosed that the 013 Quick Response Force recorded landmark operational successes in 2025, attributing the achievements to professionalism and effective collaboration with sister security agencies.
He also lauded the sustained synergy among security stakeholders in Niger State and acknowledged the support of the state government in fostering a more secure environment.
