Contrary to reports about his hospitalisation, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, yesterday in his office, received briefings from the Acting Director, Civil Litigation, Mrs. Maimuna Lami Shiru as part of his official duties after his trip outside the country.

Malami, who turns 54 today, also received the governor of his home state, Kebbi, Senator Atiku Bagudu, who came to felicitate with him on his new age.

It would be recalled that on Monday, April 12, 2021, Malami, while delivering a lecture on ‘Justice Dispensation in Nigeria: Navigating Through Thorny Terrain’, had noted that all AGF were generally vilified in their quest to serve the public while in office.

Malami had also pointed out that AGFs have to toil and travail through thorny terrains to carry out their functions.

As if his summations in the lecture were prescient, the AGF was temporarily dislocated after swooning from exhaustion, shortly after his remarks at the commissioning of new High Court building in Sokoto.

Following the Sokoto incident, the social media and online platforms were awash with reports of his hospitalisation in a private medical facility in Abuja after a brief appearance at the Federal Executive Council meeting last Wednesday.

However, in a statement made available to The Guardian, the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, disclosed that the minister was hail and hearty.

Gwandu disclosed that Malami also received Senator Aloysius Etok in his office after the briefings from the ministry’s Acting Director of Civil Litigation.
