Frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Kehinde Bamigbetan, has been honoured with the Special Recognition in Politics Award by City People Magazine.
City People Publisher, Seye Kehinde, announced the award, stating that Bamigbetan was selected after a thorough review of his long-standing involvement in politics spanning students’ unionism, labour engagement, local government administration, and state-level governance.
“On behalf of the management of City People Magazine, I write to inform you that you have been nominated for the Special Recognition Award in Politics,” Kehinde said.
Presenting the award on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the magazine’s boardroom, Kehinde commended Bamigbetan’s political style, describing it as one rooted in intellectual engagement, strategic communication, and grassroots mobilisation
The presentation was followed by an extensive interview session, where Bamigbetan spoke on his ambition for the House of Representatives, his prospects in the May 18, 2026, party primaries, and his assessment of the performance of the Tinubu administration.
Bamigbetan commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for implementing its campaign promises, noting however that some of the reforms required difficult but necessary policy decisions.
He expressed confidence ahead of the primaries, stating that his years of experience and consistency in party loyalty positioned him as a strong contender.
“I am ready for the party primaries. I was prepared to win in 2015 and 2023 before I was persuaded to step down for incumbents. I have now recharged and rebuilt my political structure, and I am more formidable than ever,” he said.
Bamigbetan, a former Public Relations Officer of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Students’ Union, previously served as Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
His political career includes roles as Chief Press Secretary to President Bola Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos State Governor, Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, and Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
