One of the leading commercial banks in the country, Skye Bank Plc., has increased the number of millionaires among the poor masses to 33. They were beneficiaries of the bank’s improved service delivery to its customers.

The Group Head, Retail Banking, Mrs. Nkolika Okoli, stated this in Akure at the weekend during the 11th Skye Bank ‘Reach for the Skye’ Millionaire Reward Scheme.

Nkolika said contrary to the tradition of financial institutions to increase their customer base, the reward scheme is created to empower their customers and encourage savings culture among their customers as opposed to ‘promo,’ which is driven towards making gains for business organisation.

According to her, the bank has set aside N5 million every month for the scheme that doles out N3 million to three customers, N250,000 to four people and N100,000 to 10 people who retain a minimum balance of N2,000 in their savings account to qualify for the reward monthly.

She added that the three millionaires produced at the Akure event means that Skye Bank has so far made 33 millionaires. At the event held at the popular Oja Oba Market in Akure, Mr.
Daniel Edem of Adeniran Ogunsanya Branch in Lagos State emerged one of the millionaires.

Edem, who spoke with our correspondent on phone, expressed his enthusiasm, saying “I am happy that eventually my loyalty to Skye Bank has paid off handsomely. This is because I have been faithful to Skye Bank for over 20 years.

“I keep all my accounts with them and in no time have they disappointed me and to crown it, they are rewarding me with N1million,” he said.
