Bare Oguntimoju needs N4.5m for open heart surgery

The dream of every young adult is to further education up to the university level, but Bare Oguntimoju’s dream has been halted by a chronic medical condition that could be fatal.

Bare, 20, sat for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), only for him to discontinue his academic pursuit due to the medical condition known as Atrial Septal Defect and Pulmonary Hypertension, that is, a hole in the wall of the heart of which surgical intervention is the only solution to save his life.

According to a medical report signed by a Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. C. E. Amandi of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Bare is at present being managed for Atrial Septal defects with associated right-sided cardiomyopathy and severe pulmonary hypertension.

His father, Olusoji Oguntimoju, said Bare is due to undergo an open-heart surgery at LUTH but needs financial assistance of N4.5 million from the general public, non-governmental organisations (NGO) and the government to enable him undergo the surgery as his life depends on it.

Oguntimoju told The Guardian said the ailment was detected a year ago after several symptoms and medications that have taken a financial toll on them.

Oguntimoju is, however, appealing to Nigerians to come to their rescue , as the surgery would only be performed once the full payment is made.
