Operatives of Bauchi State Police Command have killed two kidnappers in Ningi Local Council of the state while attempting to abduct a 28-year-old victim, Usman Abdulhamid.

Operatives of Bauchi State Police Command have killed two kidnappers in Ningi Local Council of the state while attempting to abduct a 28-year-old victim, Usman Abdulhamid.

Spokesperson for the Command, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement, yesterday, said operatives in collaboration with a local vigilante group “neutralised two kidnappers who attempted to kidnap a victim.”

He said: “On March 3, 2023,  credible intelligence revealed to the Command that, on same date at about 01:00 p.m. some unknown gunmen invaded the residence of Alhaji Abdulhamid Muhammad, at Rafin Cora Village via Ningi Local Council, in an attempt to kidnap his son, one Usman Abdulhamid, aged 28 years.

“However, in the process, the victim resisted being taken away by the kidnappers. The victim was shot multiple times in his lower abdomen, while making an effort to escape.”

Wakil said police operatives jointly with a local vigilante group led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ningi, swiftly mobilised to the scene to counter the kidnappers. The kidnappers welcomed police operatives with sporadic gunshots.

He added that the operatives engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, which forced them to scamper in disarray with possible gunshot wounds.

“Consequently, two of the kidnappers met their waterloo at the spot, while one AK47 was retrieved during the encounter. The victim was rescued and immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu for treatment,” he added.
