Bayelsa Guber: Group urges APC leaders to join forces with Sylva

Ahead of the November governorship election in Bayelsa state, a group has called on members and leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to key into the choice of former Governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, as governorship candidate.

The group under the name ‘Sylva Sure Deal’, endorsement of the former governor as its preferred candidate is coming on the heels of similar groups support for Heineken Lokpobiri and Preye Aganaba.

The group, which claimed to have grass root structures across the state, called on the former governor to contest the primaries. In a statement, the chairman of the group, Dallas Ebibi and its director of publicity, George Izibenadu described Sylva as a faithful party leader and a worthy shepherd that has earned public appeal across party lines as a result of his quality and detribalised leadership style. They further stressed that Bayelsans are witness to the public felicity that was inspired by the development-oriented governance of Sylva.

The group said it is appealing and calling on all faithful and patriotic party leaders and members to unite with Sylva towards attaining victory in the general elections and not to be used as objects of coercion in an attempt to pander to the dictates of intruders.
