The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has assured of its readiness to provide a new double circuit 33kV lines from Ihovbhor Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to reduce electricity load from Benin TCN, to improve supply to parts of Edo and neigbouring states.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, BEDC, Mrs. Funke Osibodu, said the firm would not only consolidate and improve on service delivery, but would encourage genuine power generation companies to increase power supply through embedded generation.

Osibodu, who was represented by Chief State Head of BEDC, Edo State, Mr. Abel Enechaziam, said the major TCN setback, which occurred in September 2019 due to breakdown of its main power transformer is now close to being resolved as power is gradually being restored.

Osibodu said; “Power supply in GRA, Ugbowo, Sapele road and others in Benin City and also Okada, Auchi, Uromi, Ekpoma areas of Edo State is presently fairly stabilised and improved due to network maintenance and upkeep.”
