Betta Edu refutes corruption allegation
Suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has refuted allegations of wrongdoing while overseeing the affairs of her ministry.
In the publication dated 7 July 2024, with the headline “Group Warns Against Alleged Move to Reinstate Betta Edu,” published on The Guardian news website: https://guardian.ng/, the Coalition of Civil Societies Organisations Against Corruption (CCSOAC) claimed that she and her ilks do not deserve to be considered for any appointive positions in view of the allegations of corruption against her as a minister since it would be against the anti-graft crusade of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

However, Betta described the allegation as not only false and malicious but also damaging to her reputation and integrity, having served the nation with distinction, candour, integrity and honour.
Betta, through her lawyer, Chikaosolu Osolu (SAN), of Ojukwu Chikaosolu and Co., maintained that she has neither been found guilty of any allegations of corruption by any court of law nor indicted for any corruption-related offenses on account of her stewardship of the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
“Her career both in the public and private sectors is marked by a steadfast dedication to public service and a commitment to the welfare of the less privileged members of society, which earned her the trust reposed in her by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR),” her lawyer stressed.
