The General Secretary who doubles as The Chief Executive Officer of The Bible Society of Nigeria, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, has reminded Nigerians that the only panacea to corruption and societal ills prevalent in the country, is to wholly return to God by reading and obeying His Word.

Sanusi spoke at Saviour African Cathedral, Agege, where he declared open the 2021 and 19th edition of Marathon Bible Reading with the theme ‘Read Aloud The Word of the Lord’.

He disclosed that there are 73 different reading centres across Lagos State while the programme will be going on simultaneously in twelve other states in the country which include Oyo, Edo and Kwara, among others.

“I use this medium to call on Nigerians to return to God by reading and obeying His Word with a view to stemming down corruption and other social ills in the country as righteousness exalts a nation and sin is a reproach to any people,” he said.

The general secretary charged Nigerians irrespective of denomination, profession, age or gender to visit any centre closer to them in any of the participating states and be part of the programme.

He added that participants will enjoy the privilege of reading the Bible in their own language, help someone else to hear the Word of God in a new way among others.

Sanusi also encouraged Nigerians to develop the habit of reading Bible daily so that they can inculcate biblical virtues and ability to live according to the will of God which will make Him, God to be pleased with the country.
