A Dana Air plane was yesterday struck and damaged by bird strike during take off at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.

The Guardian learnt that the impact was immediately felt on one of the engines, forcing the aircraft to abort the trip and return to the Lagos airport.

The plane with registration number 5N-SRI though landed safely, the unusual impact noise from the aircraft created panic amongst the Port Harcourt bound passengers.

The incident happened just some days after an Aero Contractors aircraft engine allegedly caught fire mid-air.

Media and Communications Manager of Dana Air, Kingsley Ezenwa, said the captain took a professional decision by returning to the Lagos airport after the strike and passengers were placed in another aircraft.
