The Chair of the British Nigeria Law Forum (BNLF) and a senior solicitor at Keystone Law, Kash Balogun, has emphasised the need for continued collaboration between UK and Nigerian lawyers.

Mr Balogun, a staunch advocate for diversity within the legal profession with focus on dispute resolution, said such would enhance opportunities for junior lawyers from ethnic minorities in the UK.

He spoke during its yearly Gala Dinner on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London.

The event brought together over 250 distinguished guests, including leading legal experts, business figures, and influential personalities from the UK and Nigeria.

He shared plans to expand the forum’s influence globally at the event.

According to Latifat Bello, General Secretary of BNLF, senior partners, in-house counsel, and representatives from renowned law firms and corporations across both nations attended the event.

Notable figures at the gathering included Mofe Tayo-Oyetibo, the youngest Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), alongside other legal luminaries and business leaders.

The gala provided an important platform to reinforce the BNLF’s mission of fostering stronger ties between the legal communities in the UK and Nigeria.

During the event, attendees celebrated the strides made in cross-border legal cooperation and the growth of the BNLF as an influential network dedicated to the advancement of its members.

One of the evening’s highlights was a captivating performance by Nigerian artist and lawyer, Falz.

Known for his legal background, Falz’s performance resonated with the BNLF’s commitment to connecting lawyers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

His participation underscored the organisation’s dedication to bridging the gap between the legal profession and the creative industries.

Founded as a platform for connecting lawyers of Nigerian heritage with their counterparts in the UK, the BNLF has grown into a pivotal organisation for professional development, mentorship, and cultural exchange.

Mr Balogun also announced that BNLF will host a similar event in Nigeria in the summer of 2025, aiming to further strengthen the bonds between the two countries’ legal communities.

The gala was made possible through the support of BNLF members and sponsors, who continue to support the organisation’s mission to provide opportunities for networking, education, and mentorship.
