A coalition of parents, guardians and the communities in Mussa and Lassa towns of Askira/Uba Local Council Area of Borno State have asked the federal government to rescue their abducted schoolchildren within the next six days.

Speaking during a protest in Maiduguri on Sunday, the affected parents and community members threatened to stage a peaceful protest at the Presidential Villa in Abuja if the victims remained in the insurgents’ captivity after the deadline.

Chairman of the Mussa Parents of Abductees, Shuaibu Umaru, questioned why children abducted in Oyo State were rescued while those from Mussa and Lassa were ignored and have remained in captivity.

The group insisted that President Bola Tinubu must do everything possible to rescue the children.

Also, the member representing Askira/Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Midala Balami, noted that the children had been in captivity since May 15, 2026.

He called on the federal and Borno State governments to deploy all available resources to rescue them, stating that the families could no longer remain silent over the victims’ prolonged captivity.ß
