Budget: Ogun begins preparation for 2026–2028 medium-term sector strategy

The Ogun State Government has commenced preparations for the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) and its costing templates, aligning them with sectoral objectives contained in the State Development Plan (2018–2030), the State Economic Development Plan and Strategy (2021–2025), and the ISEYA Development Pillars.

Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, who declared the training open in Abeokuta, said the exercise would also feed into the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), Medium-Term Fiscal Framework (MTFF), and Medium-Term Budget Framework, in line with the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law 2020 (as amended).
He explained that the process was necessary to ensure adherence to global best practices, given the current economic realities shaping both national and continental environments.

Olabimtan emphasized the state’s commitment to sustaining socio-economic development in line with its fiscal thrust.
The commissioner urged participants, including Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics, Directors of Finance and Accounts, Budget Desk Officers, and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers across all MDAs, to remain focused and actively engage in the sessions.

The exercise kicked off on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with the Agriculture and Industries Sector, and later the Infrastructure Sector. It is scheduled to conclude on Monday, September 29, 2025, with the General Public Service Sector.
