President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, pledged more commitments to the pursuit of a veritable healthcare sector in the country. Speaking through the Board Chairman, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, during the commissioning of some landmark projects at the hospital, the president said that his commitment to an improved healthcare sector remains sacrosanct. This will boost our chances of being treated here over certain medical challenges.”
Buhari praised the vision of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the UITH, Professor A.D. Yussuf and his exemplary leadership styles, just as he gave kudos to all the board members and the hospital’s management for turning the health institution into a model for others.
Some of the commissioned projects according to the CMD were bankrolled from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and through collaborations with some private bodies.
Some of the projects are the magnificent Eye Centre, Ultra modern Radiology Unit, Procurement Unit and several internally built road networks.
For Yussuf, the projects ran into several billions of naira, urging all the staff of the hospital not to rest on their oars until the institution would be adjudged as one of the best in the world.
