Buhari presents APC’s flag to Oyetola for second term in office
• Vote-buying not in our DNA, says Osun govt
• PDP accuses gov of frustrating planned mega rally
• Opposition peddling falsehood, says governor
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to the party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
Buhari, while presenting the flag to Oyetola at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, promised party’s commitment to further the development journey of the state.
He commended Governor Oyetola for his performance in his first tenure and for serving the people tirelessly, just as he expressed confidence in the party’s capacity to win the July 16, 2022 election.
The President also gave thumbs up to the co-chairmen of the Osun State Governorship Campaign Council, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as well as the Vice Chairman, Niger State’s Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for the commitment towards the campaign for the re-election of Oyetola.
Deputy National Chairman of the party, Senator Abba Kyari, who presented the candidate on behalf of the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, commended the President for leading the party to victory.
He described Oyetola as a performing governor who has done well in his first term and deserves a second term.
Oyetola, who debunked the allegation that there was division among the party faithful in the state, said that reconciliation had been done in the party, adding that no fewer than 10,000 people joined the APC in the state from other parties.
He said: “Vote-buying is not in our DNA. I have met and exceeded all expectations.”
IN another development, the Osun State chapter of the PDP, yesterday, accused Oyetola of frustrating its planned mega rally by tactically refusing to approve venue for the political event.
The PDP’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Adekunle Akindele, who spoke at a press conference in Osogbo, said the state government refused to approve venues for its planned mega rally slated for next week.
BUT when contacted, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ismail Omipidan, said the PDP was peddling falsehood.
He, therefore, challenged the party to produce copies of applications for the venues, adding: “Everyone already knows that PDP is rich in peddling lies and falsehood.”
If they are actually telling the public the truth, they should produce evidence of the said applications for the venues.”
