Buhari swears in new ICPC chairman Owasanoye, other board members
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari Monday swore in Professor Bolaji Owasanoye as the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The President also inaugurated eight new members into the commission during the swearing-in ceremony held at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Sworn in along with the chairman are eight members of the ICPC board, which includes Grace Chinda from Delta, Okolo Titus (Enugu), Obiora Igwedebia (Anambra) and Olubukola Balogun (Lagos).
Others are Justice Adamu Bello (Katsina), Hannatu Muhammed (Jigawa), Abdullahi Saidu (Niger) and Yahaya Dauda (Nasarawa)
This came almost a month after Owasanoye and the eight other members appointment were confirmed by the Senate.
Owasanoye, a professor of law took over from Ekpo Nta, whose five-year tenure expired in September 2017.
He is the 4th substantive head of the anti-graft agency since its inception in 1999.
