President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, tasked Nigerian Universities to contribute in finding solutions to the myriad of challenges facing the country through innovations and research.

Speaking at the 48th Convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), the President also said that they should develop patriotic ideas by identifying with national cause and ensuring corporate discipline through management and accountability in their various operations.

Represented by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Ministry of Education, Abuja, Ozo Eddy Nwaokoye, the President said his administration is supportive of the growth of Universities through its various intervention agencies in boosting infrastructure, research and staff development programmes.

Buhari said that the federal government has completed energy audit in 37 federal universities for the commencement of Independent Power Plants (IPPs), stressing that when the projects were completed, it would end the perennial problem of power in the affected universities.

He called on Nigerians to continue to support democracy and to embrace dialogue to enhance the development of the educational system.
