Buhari to attend Progressive Governors retreat in Plateau
Plateau State will play host to the Progressive Governors’ Forum from Sunday, November 24 to 25 for their retreat, which will be attended by President Muhammadu Buhari as the special guest of honour.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Danladi Atu, who disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing, explained that governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are all expected to be present at the event.
Atu said the governors would be coming together to dialogue and exchange ideas so that they would be in line with the manifesto of the party which is anchored on inclusive governance, adding that the retreat would give them the opportunity to have a kind of peer review.
He pointed out that the state would host the president and governors to a banquet.
“Those we are expecting too include the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and frontline ministers.
“So, we are expecting not less than 19 ministers to be at the parley as well. Because the APC drives an inclusive governance manifesto, we are going to have presentations from even the local governments. So, local governments will be fully represented,” Atu added.
He said that on the whole, no fewer than 180 personalities would be hosted by the state, noting that it would not be an easy task, as the personalities would be coming with their aides.
“The whole lot of Nigerians will be in Plateau State because when you have the number one citizen of the country coming to a state, you know the whole country is there. That means that Plateau State is hosting Nigeria. That is the magnitude the event is going to take,” he stressed.
