BUK, Kano varsities announce resumption of academic session

Bayero University, Kano has announced Monday October 24 as the resumption date of full academic session after the suspension of eight months of industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Deputy Registrar, Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, in a statement, disclosed that the university senate reached the resumption date after the management emergency meeting held on yesterday.
Similar, the Senate of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK) has approved the commencement of the second semester lectures for the 2020/2021 academic session.
At the senate meeting held on Monday, the senate approved the commencement of lectures effective from Monday October 24, 2023.
The resolution was contained in a statement by Head, Information, Publications, Protocol and Public Relations, Abdullahi Abba Hassan.
The spokesperson Hassan said, the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate of the University, Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, assured provision of conducive learning environment.
He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to uplift the standard of the university, adding that the university has secured approval for some new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Meanwhile, ASUU, Aliko Dangote University, Wudil, on Monday announced suspension of it strike and its readiness to return to classroom immediately.
Although, the management of the university is yet to issue official statement on the resumption of full academic session in the university.
