Borno IDPs get support from Zulum
• Jigawa LG donates drugs to a health facility

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has tasked the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the area of education, agriculture, and employment.

According to him, intervention in the sectors will restore livelihoods destroyed by the 12-year Boko Haram activity.

Buni stated this at the weekend when the UNDP Deputy Country Representative, Lealem Dinku, visited him in Damaturu.

The governor and the UNDP delegation identified areas of partnership to improve the living condition of returnees Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to home communities.

HOWEVER, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State is supporting 50 IDP households to restore their livelihoods in the liberated community of Marte.

The support comprises rebuilding of a market and restoration of the IDPs’ means of livelihood.

While addressing the returnees in Garade community on Sunday, Zulum disclosed that the rehabilitated Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA) quarters were to shelter 2,870 returnees from Monguno, Dikwa, and Maiduguri camps.
SIMILARLY, Hadejia Local Council in Jigawa State has distributed drugs to Hadejia primary health facility.

The Manager, Primary Health Care Development in Hadejia, Idris Wuriwa, commended the council for the gesture and promised to judiciously use the drugs.

No fewer than 74 persons were reportedly infected with cholera in various areas across Jigawa since the outbreak about a month ago.

Sources close to the Ministry of Health and Social Development stated that the government was on top of the situation, as a large consignment of drugs had since been dispatched to the worst-hit health facilities in the state.
