The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has stated that as the fight against Boko Haram insurgency enters the crucial stage, the Federal Government is providing troops with necessary support.

Buratai said this while interacting with newsmen at the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Maiduguri yesterday after inspecting some vehicles procured for the troops.

“Our troops are ready and determined to do what they should do for us to get this thing, insurgency, behind us finally,” he said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the army chief, while responding to question, said: “It is very clear that the terrorists have been defeated; there is no doubt about it.

“We are doing the mop up operations to ensure that we clear the remnants of them. It is one thing to defeat, it is another thing for the terrorists to surrender.”

He described the vehicles as “force multipliers” that would assist the troops to move and carry out their operational requirements in the theatre of operation.

The COAS explained that the supply of vehicles, among other necessary equipment, was an indication that the Federal Government was doing all it could to equip and motivate the troops to win the war.
