Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar has appealed to public-spirited groups and individuals to support the feeding of long-staying patients.

Managing Director of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Edet, made the appeal when Cross River State Bishops’ Forum of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star visited the hospital.

He lamented that about 22 long-staying patients, who have no family to care for them, only feed on the mercy of other good-hearted patients and the hospital management.

While expressing gratitude for the support of food items and toiletries donated by the Bishop Forum, he called for partnerships with private organisations and religious groups to assist the hospital to build a home for discharged patients who have no family to return to.

Leader of the team, Archbishop Alex Ukam, commended the hospital for the love and care they have been showing to the vulnerable patients who still depend on them.
