CAN backs Kukah on criticism of Buhari’s govt

Matthew Kukah

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State Chapter, has defended the presentation of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Dr. Matthew Kukah, before the American Congress over security challenges facing Nigerians under the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

The Chairman of Kaduna CAN, Rev. Joseph Hayab, also faulted the Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, on his response to Kukah’s protest against Buhari’s government.

Hayab explained that over 75 per cent of Nigerians were not satisfied with the government, pointing out: “If this government does not have this statistics, we can provide them.”

“Kukah has spoken the minds of Nigerians to the American Congress. The Presidency never wanted anybody to speak out on what is happening in the country. When they cry out, the Presidency gets offended. Look at their reactions; they are even twisting the words of Kukah. They are making it look like a personal issue.”
