Chinese govt, foundation donate food items to OPM

The People’s Republic of China, in partnership with the Rescue and Support the Helpless Foundation (Resh Foundation), has donated food items to the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) in Port Harcourt as part of efforts to fight hunger.

The donation was presented on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the residence of OPM’s Founder and General Overseer, HRM King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, in GRA, Port Harcourt.

Speaking during the presentation, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, His Excellency Jin Ming Yu, said the gesture was aimed at supporting King Chibuzor Chinyere in his humanitarian projects over the years.

“We want to support King Chibuzor Chinyere in all his humanitarian engagements,” Jin said.

He added that the initiative was also part of efforts to strengthen ties between China and Nigeria, noting that more Chinese companies would soon begin operations in the country, particularly in Rivers State, creating jobs for locals.

The items donated included bags of rice, garri, cartons of noodles, and gallons of vegetable oil, among others.

In his response, King Chibuzor expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for the support, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.

He also dispelled negative perceptions about China, recalling his previous visits to the country where he was warmly received.

“There is a wrong notion about Chinese people. They are very friendly. I have been to China twice, and on my first visit, I was gifted two cars. Today, they are thinking about the less privileged in Nigeria, and look at what they brought,” he said.

He thanked the Chinese government, saying the donation would go a long way in feeding many poor families.

Also speaking, the General Manager of CCECC Construction Company, Mr. Chin, said Rivers State had provided a friendly environment for Chinese investments. He assured that more Chinese companies would establish operations in the state, providing jobs and boosting the economy.

Present at the ceremony were the President of Divine Distributors in OPM, the Welfare Director of OPM, Mrs. Maurine Chukwu, and other church officials.
