Clerics protest sealing Aba church premises by Ikpeazu
Hundreds of ordained ministers, comprising pastors and apostles of the Apostolic Christian Church Mission (ACCM), yesterday, at Aba, Abia State, protested the sealing of their National Headquarters located on Omuma Road, Aba.
They said the church, which has over 1,000 branches nationwide with the largest concentration in the state where it was founded over 72 years ago, was sealed on Saturday, December 31, 2022, on the order of the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who is not a member of the church.
The protesters, who wore white and black cassocks singing and dancing along Aba-Owerri road near Osisioma Flyover, carried placards with inscriptions such as, “Ikpeazu, respect God to avoid divine wrath,” “Unseal our ACCM at 34 Omuma road Aba,” “ACCM does not support tribalism” etc.
While addressing journalists, the church’s Spokesman, Apostle Christopher Ogbuagu, said: “There are few of our church elders who are politicians, and who are relatives of the state governor.
“Ikpeazu wants to foist an unpopular bishop on the church, following the death of the former bishop.”
