
The Brigade Commander of the 23 Brigade, Yola, Adamawa State, Brigadier General Zawaya, has emphasized the need for graduates of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) vocational programme to effectively utilize the skills they have acquired to foster economic independence.
The call to action was made during the graduation ceremony of the first batch of 2024 trainees at the 23 Brigade Warrant Officers and Sergeant Mess in Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Yola.
Addressing the graduates, he underscored the importance of applying their newly acquired vocational and technical skills to build self-reliant futures.
The program was observed to have trained participants in computer skills, tailoring, and barbing, equipping them with the tools to become economically independent.
Applauding the support of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, for his commitment to welfare initiatives, Zawaya also praised Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Division, Nigerian Army, for his leadership.
He urged the graduates to leverage their skills not only for personal benefit but also for the development of their communities.
Also speaking, Zonal Coordinator of the NAOWA 23 Brigade Chapter, Mrs. Comfort Zawaya, Zonal Coordinator of the NAOWA 23 Brigade Chapter, praised the dedication of the trainees throughout the program.
She noted that the skills acquired would contribute to their personal growth and the advancement of their communities.
Reaffirming NAOWA’s commitment to empowering women and youth, she encouraged the graduates to create opportunities for themselves and others.
She also expressed her gratitude to the NAOWA National President, Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, and the NAOWA Chairperson of 3 Division for their ongoing support to the 23 Brigade chapter, pledging that the association would continue its outreach efforts to benefit its members.
