The judgment of a High Court sitting in Abuja sacking Anambra State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ndubuisi Nwobu, has thrown the party and its 26 governorship aspirants into confusion.

The court order returned Ejike Oguebego, a loyalist of Chief Chris Ubah, as the authentic chairman of the party in the state.

The judgment is coming less than 24 hours after the party was billed to begin ward ad-hoc delegates’ election in the 326 wards for the eventual emergence of a candidate.

In an interview on the development, an aspirant on the ticket of the PDP, who pleaded anonymity, claimed that if the court order subsists, “the fortune of the party is hanging on the balance and the party might return to the trenches.

Also, a political watcher, Dr. Peter Unachukwu, expressed the fear that if the judgment is appealed, it might throw up two factions in the party, which only the court would determine after the November 6, 2021 election.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the Nwobu-led faction is consulting with both the national leadership and lawyers with a view to staying execution and appealing against the order to enable it go ahead with delegates’ election billed for today.
