Court convicts ‘fake’ EFCC employee, another in Kwara

Justice I.O. Musa of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced one Mr. Akeem Oluwafemi Akanni to a one-month imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine.

Justice I.O. Musa of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced one Mr. Akeem Oluwafemi Akanni to a one-month imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine.

The accused had “falsely” presented himself as an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Abdullahi Idris, in Kaduna to allegedly defraud the latter of N300,000 to assist him “kill a case filed against him.”

Besides, the Ilorin zonal office of the commission has convicted one Joseph Oyediran, indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations in the United States of America.
