Four persons who attempted to sneak into Ekiti State while the COVID-19 lockdown was still in force were yesterday convicted.

Four persons who attempted to sneak into Ekiti State while the COVID-19 lockdown was still in force were yesterday convicted.

Afolabi Shuaib, Daramola Sulaimon, Ibe Gregory and Adeniyi Idowu were arrested at Igbara-Odo, a border town in Ekiti State.

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Mr. Abdulhamid Lawal, found them guilty of defying the inter-state lockdown and imposed a fine of N30,000 on Shuaib, the driver of the truck that conveyed them from Lagos.

The three passengers, who hid inside the truck, bagged a fine of N10,000 each.

All the defendants pleaded guilty to the three-count charge.

Meanwhile, a prophecy of the founder of Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Senior Prophet Temitope B. Joshua, that the outbreak of the novel coronavirus would be contained by March 27, 2020 actually came to pass around that date, according to Chief Jonas Maduabuchukwu Ojukwu, a Peace Ambassador.

“This is because Wuhan, China, the only location where the disease existed at the early period of the outbreak, actually started seeing an end to the disease in the region around that time.

“Recall that the man of God actually made the prophetic pronouncement at a time when the disease was limited to China. So, the fact that some observable changes indicating a movement toward the end of the disease occurred about that period prophesied showed the success of the prophecy and the accompanying prayers,” Ojukwu affirmed in a statement.

A video released on YouTube by Emmanuel TV featured a Chinese resident, an African, who said he started believing Prophet Joshua only when he experienced the fulfilment of his prophecy concerning the disease.

The Wuhan, China-based young man said after Prophet Joshua’s prediction that “rain would fall to wipe away all fears of the unknown,” he became surprised when a heavy rain actually fell across the region from March 23-26, 2020. Thereafter, he said, Wuhan declared that it had no new confirmed cases of COVID-19, signalling the beginning of the end of the outbreak in that region.

According to a March 10 Aljazeera report, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid his first visit to Wuhan after the December 2019 outbreak in early March, signalling the government’s confidence that the disease was already being contained in the region.

“Prophecy dates need not be exact but close enough,” Chief Ojukwu explained. “The fulfilment of a prophecy may happen on the exact date or just before or just after it.”
