A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has dismissed a suit seeking to restrain the state All Progressives Congress (APC) from conducting fresh congresses.

The APC had scheduled its fresh congresses for September 21 and September 28, 2019, but aggrieved members of the party, including Ibrahim Umar and 22 others had approached the court and obtained an injunction restraining the APC from conducting the congresses.

The claimants had prayed the court to restrain APC from demanding payment for nomination forms to participate in the aborted September congresses, citing a High Court judgment delivered in Suit No. BHC/78/2018: lbrahim Umah & 22 others that nullified the APC congresses in 2018.

They hinged their argument on the fact that they were deprived from participating in the congresses after due payments for nomination forms.

However, ruling on the matter, Justice G.O. Ollor, set aside the interim injunction obtained by Umar and 22 other on September 14, 2019, seeking to restrain the APC from conducting fresh congresses in the state pending the determination of their suit.
