A Magistrate’s Court in Yaba area of Lagos State on Tuesday granted bail to Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti.

According to Kuti‘s lawyer Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), he is expected to meet his bail conditions within 48 hours.

The Lagos State Police Command had taken Seun to court to secure a 21-day remand order but the court granted him bail.

His lawyer said upon completion of an investigation, the police should hand over the case to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Kuti spent the night at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba on Monday, after he turned himself in to the police following an order for his arrest by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.

The 40-year-old was filmed on Saturday assaulting a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State.

A video clip which went viral on Saturday showed Kuti pushing the policeman and proceeded to slap him.
